Social Mobility Agenda
'State of the Nation' is the fifth social mobility report, published in 2017 that highlights the ‘stark postcode lottery’ that exists in Britain. Recent educational reform and policy, alongside the Industrial Strategy, all have clear ambitions in the social mobility agenda. In December 2017, ‘Unlocking Talent, Fulfilling Potential’ set out the national plan for dealing with social mobility through education and how to remove obstacles that could stop people from achieving their potential, with the aim that ‘no community is left behind’ and better educational and career outcomes are more evenly spread across the country.
